A Theatre Re-opened upon the opening of the 34th Fajr International Film Festival

The opening ceremony of Falahatpour Hall was held on Monday the 18th April in presence of Reza Mirkarimi, the festival director of the 34th FIFF.

According to the public relations office of the festival, along with Reza Mirkarimi, Dr. Gholam-Reza Akrami, the Dean of Art University, Dr. Esmaeil Shafiei, a board member at Cinema and Theatre Faculty, Dr. Shahab Esfandiyari, the head of Cinema department at the Cinema and Theatre Faculty, the father of martyr Falahatpour, and a group of university lecturers and students participated in the ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony Mirkarimi stated that serving as the Festival director, he tried to do something fruitful instead of focusing on costly and useless ceremonials. “Renovating this hall, although not very big, is one of those objectives. Helping the cinema students to be in closer contact with FIFF is one the goals we have been seeking,” he added.

“I was a student at the University of Fine Arts and I know what sort of connection should exist between the students, the academy and a cultural and artistic event. That is the reason we intended to hold a part of our programs at universities to be closer to our target population and the idea was well-received by our international guests,” Mirkarimi asserted.

He expressed hopes that the festival programs will be of use. “The atmosphere of the festival is more scientific this year. Internationally-acclaimed guests and masters are participating in the workshops and you can use their knowledge and experience,” he pointed out.

A part of a film by Falahatpour, one of the cinematographers of ‘Revayat-e Fath’ documentary, was also screened in this ceremony. Mostafa Dalayi, a colleague of his, talked about some of his memories with Falahatpour and his father explained how he was injured several times before being martyred.

The ceremony ended with the screening of the film ‘Stood in the Dust’ by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian.

The 34th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will be held from April 20th to April 25th, 2016 in Charsou Cineplex, under the supervision of the well-known Iranian filmmaker, Mr. Reza Mirkarimi, who is also the Managing Director of Khaneh Cinema.
