The era is of importance for the Iranians as the period is considered as nostalgic, he further noted.
Ali Taherfar, the director of the film, said that the work is based on Jalil Tayefi’s book.Tayefi is one of the Iranian filmmakers who used to create cinematic works in 1980s, he noted. The viewers of the movie can remember their nostalgic memories of the 1980s, he underlined.
Talking about the process of making the movie, Taherfar said “Projectionist” has risen from the heart of the Iranian people of the 1980s.
It narrates the story of a simple painter who is in love with the cinema and intends to reach his wish, so he takes up a heroic path. He said that most of the people in Tabriz have Azeri as their mother tongue. Saying that he used talented, but not famous actors for the work.
Taherfar said he tried to choose actors with a bit of an Azeri accent and managed to “dream composition.”
Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 42nd edition of Iran’s largest annual film festival is held from February 1-11, 2024, in Tehran.
