“Paradise for Criminals”, not an Adaptation but a Research

The press conference for the “Paradise for Criminals” was held on Monday, February 5, 2024, while the director Masoud Jafari Jozani said “the flick is not an adaptation.” .

The press conference was held at Milad Tower in west of Tehran where the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) is underway.

The cinematic work is a research project, he said, adding that he had reviewed all the pertinent files and documents before the production.

The director said this is about the importance of the independence of the judicial power.

If the judiciary is not independent in a society, that place will turn into a paradise for criminals, he underscored.

He pointed out that “If you look at the set and costume design of the film, even the color of the tie has been selected based on research.”

The editor of the feature, Mehdi Hosseinivand, who was also present in the presser, said: “Jafari Jozani was my supervisor at the university.”

“It was hard but enjoyable to cooperate with him,” he further noted.
The feature-length film has been produced by Fathollah Jafari Jozani and Ali Qaem Maqami.

Qaem Maqami, the co-producer of “Paradise for Criminals”, termed the production of the film as “extremely demanding”.

The FIFF is a major film event, which is organized every year to celebrate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 42nd edition of Iran’s largest annual film festival will be held from February 1-11, 2024, in Tehran.
