Behrooz Afkhami, the director of “Morning of Execution”, says he believes making of this movie was the daily need of the Iranian society, especially the new generation.
Afkhami, who has participated in the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival, said about 25 years ago, I read a report in Keyhan newspaper about the execution of Haj Ismail Rezaei and Tayeb Haj Rezaei, and I was really impressed. Since then, I felt that this story has the capacity to become a screenplay; But in these 25 years, I did not have enough motivation to make it. The cinematic work is based on a true story, he said, adding that the execution scene required a black-and-white setting like the movies of the 40s. Because the story of the script is based on reality, it has a documentary style narrative. We did not use famous actors; Because the faces should not be too familiar to the audience so that they don’t remember other movies. In the end, Behrouz Afkhami emphasized: “Morning of Execution” is similar to old American movies in terms of lighting and performance.
Delving into the lives of key figures on the path of the Islamic Revolution and the execution of Tayeb Haj-Rezaei, the film stars Masoud Sharif, Arastou Khoshrazm, Davoud Fathalibeigi, Mehrdad Niknam, Pouria Monjezi, Mohsen Avari, Kaveh Darabi, and Fariba Azarshab.
Khoshrazm portrays Haj Esmaeel Rezaei, while Masoud Sharif takes on the role of Tayeb.
The FIFF is a major film event, which is organized every year to celebrate the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 42st Fajr International Film Festival will be held from February 1-11, 2024, in Tehran.
