Minister of Culture and the Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili has attended the venue of the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) and officially inaugurated the 25th International Film Market (IFM) at Milad Tower in Tehran on Wednesday (February 7).
The head of the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs Mohammad Khazaee, the head of the Farabi Cinema Foundation Majid Zeinolabedin and the director of the FIFF, Mojtaba Amini were accompanying the Culture Minister during his visit.
After opening the IFM, the Culture Minister answered the reporters’ questions about the Festival.
He expressed satisfaction over the number of the films participated in the Festival, adding that the variety of the movies were so good.
“The films should be the sources of hope, awareness and pride for the potentials of this soil and border.”
In his remarks, the minister appreciated the festival held remarkably with mass presence of the ordinary people.
Referred to the time of the FIFF which coincides with the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, the minister said when cultural events are held during the period, it shows the depth of the revolution in the Iranian culture.
About launch of a big complex for holding Islamic Revolution’s festivals, Esmaili said it will be inaugurated on the 50th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The Fajr Festival comes before the name of the Islamic Revolution and it shows the closeness between those two, according to the minister.
