Iran, Kyrgyzstan resolved to boost ties in cinema

Iran and Kyrgyzstan, on the sidelines of the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) on February 8, voiced readiness to further bolster mutual cooperation in the sphere of cinema.
Akzhol Bekbolotov, the head of the cinematography department at the Kyrgyz Ministry of Culture, Information, Sport and Youth Policy, said that his country is to hold the second edition of the film festival this year.
“We invite Iran to take part in the upcoming event,” he pointed out.
He expressed hope that Iran would attend the country’s film festival in 2025 as a special guest.
Iranian cinema boasts a special status in the world, he stated.
For his part, Mojtaba Amini, the secretary of the 42nd FIFF thanked the attendance of Kyrgyzstan’s side in the festival.
“I hope you enjoy your presence at the prestigious event,” he added.
He expressed willingness to further cooperate with Kyrgyzstan in the near future.
Amini said that it was hard to select the best submission among the works of Kyrgyzstan in the current edition of the Festival as the flicks are of the almost same high quality.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to prepare the ground to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of cinema.
Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 42nd edition of Iran’s largest annual film festival is held in Tehran from February 1 to 11, 2024.
