On the sidelines of the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Tehran on Friday (February 9), a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by cinema authorities of Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, and Russia on cinema cooperation.
Director of Cinema Organization of Iran Mohammad Khazaei, and his counterparts or representatives from the abovementioned countries signed the agreement today.
Daniel Danielyan, the deputy culture and science minister of Armenia, said in the meeting that Iranian cinema is unique in the region and has special view and approach.
He expressed hoped that his presence here will bring a new era for expansion of cooperation in the culture and cinema.
He also wished that the existing cooperation would result in making feature films.
Akzhol Bekbolotov, the head of the cinematography department at the Kyrgyz Ministry of Culture, Information, Sport and Youth Policy, said that 42 is big number for holding a festival. “It is nearly half a century.”
Deputy Director General of the Turkish Cinematography Agency Kemal Uysal said in the meeting that the region has good cinema facilities and that holding such a session shows that we need to try harder.
Yuri Obukhov, from Russia, called the people at the meeting as “friend”, because they have been working and cooperating with each other for a long time, adding that the existing economic and political cooperation between the countries should expand to cinema and culture as well.
