Is this your first time that you experience participating Fajr International Film Festival? While you have been in this festival, how do you compare this edition with the previous ones?

No, It is my third time and I am very excited as always because I did not come last year and I notice many changes this year; I see a bigger market, more people moving around and doing great business, and I can feel the difference compared to my first time which was about 5 years ago after which I came for the 2nd time afterwards.

How did you see the festival atmosphere?

Lovely, simply friendly. There are the people who are always trying to help you eagerly, with everythimg, those from the organization. I have this feeling that the market is growing organizionally including the people doing their work enthusiastically at the FIFF, which truly makes the solid market of this region more respectful.

What motivated you to come here?

Well, this is my dream to acquire the great films from all over the world and I am very keen on the Iranian cinema and its details. I was also negotiating an Iranian film which was screened last year in Cannes Film Festival.

How much are you familiar with the Iranian cinema?

I love the idea of scouting young talents, new directors and new stories of the region which I have found quite fasinating.

How do you find the festival venue which is in the heart of Tehran?

It looks as if it is more convenient, much closer to every where, also the walking distance to the market is closer which reminds me of the big international markets, before it was more familiar, it was just a bunch of us we were accomponied by our friends to watch films, in a way it was easier to find our way around as we were directed by some guides. Now we need more time to understand what is going on as there are many guests.

This is the second edition of the festival which is being held separatly from the national section, how do you see this event?

That is exactly the big change that I was talking about. I have not spent enough time to judge whether this would result in a better understang of the local productions of the area. What I am personally after is to be in full contact with the Iranian productios. As a buyer we are here to be more focused at the Iranian films, but I ended up watching a Japanes film yesterday here, which is good in a way to scout films from another region rather than only being focused on the Iranian films, but as I have already the opportunity to travel around the world as a buyer to watch other regions productions I am more interested to find new connections here at the 34th FIFF with the new Iranian talents. So personally I do not want to lose the track of what is going on in this region.

The 34th edition of Fajr International Film Festival is being held from April 20th to April 25th, 2016 in Charsou Cineplex, under the supervision of the well-known Iranian filmmaker, Mr. Reza Mirkarimi, who is also the Managing Director of Khaneh Cinema.
