The Director of the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) Mojtaba Amini received some filmmakers and cineastes from Syria, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Japan on February 8, 2024.
Amini said that Iran enjoys constructive ties with Turkey as the neighboring country.
Iran produces cinematic works with the collaboration of Turkish cineastes, he added.
Commenting on the potential of Japan, he said that the Asian country is excellent at animation.
As to the Syrian cinema, he said that Syria is of paramount importance to Iran.
The Survivor, the film starred by Salma Massri, has been remembered by the Iranian cinephiles, he noted.
For her part, Massri said, “I’ve acted in 150 cinematic works.”
The cinematic work titled The Survivor is considered my best flick, she added.
Ahmad Ahmad Mojtaba Zamal, a juror from Bangladesh, said “I took part in the FIFF in 1994 for the first time.”
I regard Iran as my second home, he said, adding “It’s my 17th time being in the country.”
Aziz Zhambakiev, another participant from Kazakhstan, said that the FIFF is considered as a bridge to share know-how with Asian countries.
He said that he is interested in the Iranian culture, adding “I feel like I’m an Iranian.”
Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 42nd edition of Iran’s largest annual film festival is held from February 1 to 11, 2024, in Tehran.
