The media meeting of “Colonel Soraya” held in Mellat Cineplex in Tehran on Feb.3, 2023 as a part of 41st Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).
Addressing the meeting, Director of “Colonel Soraya” Leili Aaj, explained the difficulties in the process of making this film.
“Mother, expectation and child are three universal keywords and this film can be shown to all the world”, she said.
In response to the question, how do you see the chances of success of your film in this competition, considering the lower number of female filmmakers compared to the male filmmakers in Iranian cinema she said,” I do not believe in gender segregation.”
“I would have preferred to be asked how I think about my film and how I evaluate it in competition with 23 other films,”Aaj added.
Referring to the chance of receiving Simorgh, Aaj stressed, “We have to wait and see what the jury members think and how the other films are.”
Addressing the same gathering, the producer of the film Jalil Shabani said that the main idea of this film is a controversial issue and can happen anywhere across the world.
The FIFF is a major film event, which is organized every year to celebrate the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 41st Fajr International Film Festival will be held from February 1-11, 2023, in Tehran.
