M.Mehdi Asgarpour (Festival Director)
Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour is an Iranian writer, director and producer. He was born in Tehran in 1963. He completed his education in cinema at the Iran Broadcasting University and began filmmaking with the production of short films from 1987. He is master of Film directing course in IRIB university.
Asgarpour has directed the films “We Have Guests”, “Eghlima”, “Qadgamah”, “7:05” and “flight at infinity” and on television, we’ve also seen his directing of the series “Don’t Give Me Up,” “Mania,” “Injury,” and “Breathe Out”. Asgarpour has held various executive positions over the years, with the Managing Director of the Iranian Alliances of Motion Picture Guilds for six years. Director of the Great Iranian Cinema Celebration, Director of the Fajr Film Festival, Managing Director of Farabi Cinema Foundation, Manager of the international film festival for children and young adults, Secretary of the first International sculpture symposium of Tehran and manager of child and young adults Department of TV channel II are among his other executive activities.
Asgarpour is selected as the director of 38th Fajr International Film Festival.
Amir Esfandiari (General Delegate)
Born in 1957 in Tehran, Amir Esfandiari is a graduate of Business Management from Massachusetts Northeastern University. After his return to Iran, he worked on a number of co-production film projects such as Ron Fricke’s BARAKA (1992). In 1993, he started his collaboration with Farabi Cinema Foundation (FCF) as chief executive of Co-Production Department.
In 1997, Esfandiari began his work as Head of International Affairs in FCF. Since then he has served as a jury member in a number of different international events such as Olympia Int’l Film Festival as president of the jury, Cairo International Children Film Festival, Golden Apricot International Film Festival, Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival, Armenia Film Festival for Children & Youth, International Children Bangalore Film Festival as president of the jury, Tokyo Kinder Film Festival, China International Children Film Festival, Istanbul Bosphorus Film Festival and so forth.
His other professional activities include: Director of international affairs in Fajr International Film Festival (1997-2012), Director of international affairs in Children and Young Adults International Film Festival (since 1997),Director of international affairs in Oil International Film Festival (2003), Deputy Chairman of 48th Asia Pacific Film Festival in Iran-Shiraz (2003), Director of international affairs in Kish International Film Festival (2011), Founder and Director of Iranian International Market for Films & TV Programs (1997-2012), Member of selection committee of Fajr International Film Festival & Children and Young Adults International Film Festival (1997-2013), Head of Iranian selection committee of best film for Academy of Motion Pictures since 1997, Founder of the International Competition Section of Fajr International Film Festival (1997), Founder of Iran’s Cinema Umbrella in International Film Markets, Vice President and Board Member of CIFEJ (2002 to 2007), Member of Board of Directors of Asia- Pacific Film Festival (since 2000), Director of international affairs in Urban Film Festival (2015). He also has worked as Head of international affairs in 34th, 35th, 36th and 37th of Fajr international Film Festival.
Mohammad Ibrahim Salavatifard (Senior Advisor)
Mohammad Ibrahim Salavatifard, born in 1952 in Tehran, studied Physics in Iran’s National University. He is one of the senior TV producers with a lot of management experience in IRIB. He has been a member of the selection board in nine editions of Fajr International Film Festival. Salavatifard has also worked as the VIP and ceremonies Manager of AIBD, and ABUconferences, and supervised the Department of the Journalists in the Islamic Summits Conference. He has been cooperating with FIFF since 2016 as the Head of Protocol and Deputy Director.
Reza Kianian (Festival Palace Manager)
Reza Kianian, born in 1951, Tehran, is an actor working in cinema, theater and television, also a writer, designer, and photographer. He began his acting career in 1989 with Hamid Samandarian’s, “All of the Earth’s Temptations” but it was his supporting role in Ahmad Reza Darvish’s “Kimia” (1995) which made him a familiar face on screen. He went on to become one of the most popular and prolific actors during 90s and 2000s. Continuing his career in cinema, theater and TV, he has gone through a unique path and established himself as an innovative actor and a genuine artist.
“The Glass Agency” (1998) brought him back his first Crystal Symorgh of Fajr Film Festival for a supporting role and he scooped Crystal Simorgh of best actor for “A House Built on Water” (2003), but these are just a number of his cinematic awards throughout his career. He has also been remarkably well-received in his work as an artist, photographer and writer. Kianian has been the manager of fajr festival palace Since 2016.
Iraj Taghipour (Graphic Art Manager)
Iraj Taghipour, born in 1958 in Tehran, graduated in Physics from Sharif University of Technology. He established the Photography Department of the Central Office of Construction Jihad in 1979 and after a year in 1980 started working in Film Archive department of IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting). Beside working in international affairs of Farabi Cinema Foundation (FCF) and collaboration with Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance as the head of Film Laboratory in Film and Photo Production Department, Taghipour had a successful career as a special effect director and went on to win two Crystal Simorgh of Fajr Film Festival for his achievements in cinema. He expanded his career by producing movies and TV shows and also attending in Iranian Youth Cinema Society, Azad Universtity and Art University as a professor. Over the years he has produced many films, such as, “Negin“, “Dancing in the Dust“, “The Beautiful City“, “The Empty Seat“, etc. He is one of the members of the Policy Making Council of “Art & Experience” Cinema and has been collaborating with Fajr Intl Film Festival as the art director for the past two years.
Kamyar Mohsenin (International Relations Manager)
Born in 1971 in Tehran, Kamyar MOHSENIN studied Control & Instrument Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. After working as film critic and translator with different film magazines as well as Iranian National Film Archive publications, he started an analytical TV Program, “Film 90’s”, as researcher and co-creator in 1996. He co-wrote his first book, “James Bond, 35 Years with a Phenomenon” in 1997. Mohsenin began his collaboration with Farabi Cinema Foundation as Research Executive in 1998. Since then, he has been involved in organization of such international film events as Fajr, Iranian Film Market, Children and Young Adults, Kish, Urban, etc. and publication of “Annual Selection of Iranian Films”, “Iranian Film Market Guide” and so on. Mohsenin has been a lecturer in different courses on the history of cinema and also a film critic in International Film Guide, film magazines, papers and TV programs. He has been working with FIFF since 2016 as the Head of International Relations.
Mona Zandi Haqiqi
Mona Zandi Haqiqi, born in Tehran,1972, is a screenwriter & director graduate of interior design from University of Tehran. Zandi Haghighi started cinema in 1995 as assistant director in the movie “Cow Horn” directed by Kianoush Ayari. After assisting in two other films of Ayari and editing Rakhshan Bani-Etemad’s “Under the Skin of the City”, she continued her career in cinema. Then in 1999, she entered in the field of screenwriting and directing by making the short film “Secret of Sight”. “Friday Evening” was Zandi Haghighi’s first feature film, which received a lot of appreciation from festivals and critics. She received the Crystal Simorgh for the best first film and special Crystal Simorgh of the jury from the 24th Fajr Film Festival. “African Violet” is the second Zandi’s feature which was released online in 2020. The film has won five international awards at the Sirius International Film Festival in Canada, the Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon, and the Vesoul International Film Festival. It is also worth mentioning that Zandi Haghighi has made documentaries such as “Our Times”, “A Bit of Sleep”, “Moments of Depression”, “The Next Morning” and “Lucky Pastils”, the series “Line by Line”, TV movie “Colored Papers”. She has also produced, held workshops and judged at film festivals.
Somaye Alipour (Media and Communications Manager)
Somaye Alipour was born in 1983 in Tehran. She holds bachelor’s degree in Persian literature and she is currently studying for a masters degree.
Accomplished journalist with more than 18 years of experience on behalf of renowned news agencies and newspapers including Khabaronline, Etemad and Cinemanews. She was deputy editor on the culture desk at the Khabaronline news agency for 6 years. She was editor in chief of the catalog, book and market’s guidebook of Fajr international film festival for four consecutive year.
Alipour is a member of Iran Theater Forum’s Critics and Authors Association. She won prize for best interview at celebration of Iran’s Film Critics and Writers, and nominated for best feature at celebration of Iran Theater Forum’s Critics and Authors.
She also worked with a number of movie projects including The Message, Kissing the Moon-Like Face and some theaterical production as a publicity manager.
Shadmehr Rastin (Fan Club and Workshop manager)
Shadmehr Rastin born in 1965, Tehran, graduated from University of Tehran in Architecture and studied Cinema in Islamic Centre for Filmmaking in Bagh Ferdows. Before making a career as a well-known and successful screenwriter, he has spent years writing for magazines and newspapers as a professional movie critic. As a screenwriter he has collaborated with great filmmakers such as Reza Mirkarimi on As Simple as That and Today and other movies like Offside, Zagros, A Few Days Later, and That Man Came. He was also a member of selection committee for 33th FIFF, board of Iran’s House of Cinema (IHC) and board of Iranian Society of Screenwriters. Since 2005 he has been the regular lecturer in Art University. Rastin is the head of FIFF Fan Club since 2016.
Fatima Javahersaz (Film Market Manager)
Fatima Javahersaz was born in 1947 and graduated in Bachelor of English translation and Master of media management. She began her serious work as a translator of publications in 1995. Since 1998 she started translation in Research and Studies center of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) organization .She join IRIB Media Trade in 2000 and worked as head of screening Dep, head of coordination Dep and Contracting manager for 18 years. Since 2018 till now she appointed as a Manager of Acquisition and Archive Dep. of OmidTV of IRIB. Two books has been translated by her; Language of Tears and Understanding Human Nature and published by Roshd publication.
Javahersaz acquired the International Certificate of Material and Intellectual Property of AIBD and She is the Film Market Manager since 37th Fajr International Film Festival.
Afshin Asadzadeh (Screening Department Manager)
He was born in 1972, graduated from B.A of clinical psychology and M.A student of executive management and owner of level three of product management.
His executive responsibilities were included as following:
- Deputy of supply, production and preparation unit management of Visual Media institute 2010-2013
- Supply management and supervisor on foreign products of Home Screening department of Iranian organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs 2013- 2015
- Secretary of production and screening license council of Iranian organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs 2015- 2019
- Deputy of supply and screening office of Iranian organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs at the present.
Other responsibilities:
Preparation of foreign films of 2013 Fajr International Film Festival, preparation and screening manager of first till forth YAS international Film Festival 2014- 2017, referee of Video-Cinema of 2nd YAS film Festival 2015, screening manager and coordinator of selecting committee of 34th and 35th Fajr National Film Festival 2016-2017, referee of selecting part of first national festival of Student’s short film “Sangar” 2016, technical and screening manager of 5th and 6th city film festival 2014 and 2018, preparation of foreign films of 31st international film festival of children and youth of Isfahan 2018, member of selecting committee and executive manager of Visual and Auditory Section of first and second “ Made of Iran” festival 2017 and 2019, referee of manifestation section of 36th Fajr national film festival 2018.
Afshin Asadzadeh was also in charge of screening and preparation of 36th and 37th Fajr International Film Festival.
Meysam Mazlaghani (Special Events Manager)
Hossein (Meysam) Mazlaghani was born in 1981 in Tehran. He graduated with associated degree of public relations and bachelor of cultural management of Sooreh University and since 2001 has started his executive activities in various parts of cinema. Over the years, he has served as Vice President, Broadcasting Director and Financial Vice President of Cinema and Experience, Director of Broadcasting and Marketing for the Farabi Cinema Foundation, Supervisor of the Farabi Cinema Publications Press, and Supervisor of the eight Fajr Film Festivals and Children and Youth film festivals and also Supervisor of the art department of Tehran Municipality Cultural and Art Organization. His other activities in the field of cinema include Tamasha Cineplex Management, Ivan Shams Hall Management, Launching Shahrak e Gharb Cineplex and Zendegi Cinema complex.
Mazlaghani is the Manager of Special Events of 38th Fajr International Film Festival.
