The secretary of the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) Mojtaba Amini held talks with the filmmakers and cineastes from Italy, Spain, and Armenia in Tehran on February 8, 2024.
On the sidelines of the FIFF, Amini held a meeting with a number of directors, producers, jurors, and artists on the 8th day of the prestigious event.
Iranian cinephiles follow the Spanish cinema as they are interested in the cinematic works of that country, Amini said.
He went on to say that Iran and Spain enjoy a cultural bond.
Also about Armenia, Mr Amini said Iran and Armenia cooperate in the sphere of joint production, adding Armenia is one of the locations Iran produces some cinematic works.
Speaking to Andrea Morghen, the secretary of Italy’s Religion Today Film Festival, Amini said Italy is one of the pioneers in the cinema industry.
We are keen on taking advantage of Italian filmmakers’ experiences, he noted.
Morghen, the Italian filmmaker, said that some 20% of the entries of the Religious Today Film Festival in Italy are related to Iranian cinema.
Apart from the quantity of the Iranian flicks, their quality has also enhanced, he added.
The film expert said that the Iranian movies “speak to the heart.”
An Armenian analyst, who was also present in the meeting, Karen Avetisyan – an artistic director — said that Iran and Armenia have cooperated over the two decades in the sphere of cinema.
Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 42nd edition of Iran’s largest annual film festival is held from February 1 to 11, 2024, in Tehran.
