The Mozaffar Path opened concurrent with the 37th Fajr International Film Festival. The idea was to give a new lease of life to the annual cinematic event by offering open space programs to movie fans.
The path is located on the Mozaffar Brothers Street and in the vicinity of Felestin Cinema, one of the main theaters that screens Festival movies. Makeshift tents have been erected with seats to welcome visitors to different cultural programs.
Vahid Ghasemi, the man in charge of the Festival’s urban events, says the outdoor programs are designed to get moviegoers back to cinemas: Another idea is to make sure those who have no time to attend the Festival could still experience the cinematic event outdoor.
According to the official, the Festival seeks to catapult Iranian cinema into the world stage and make sure it can compete with other festivals: The Festival is now also an urban event and that’s why the organizers built the movie path beside Felestin Cinema.
The street programs include script and screenplay reading sessions by Iranian artists, screening of previous festival movies, as well as live music concerts (from movie soundtracks) and poppet shows. Other activities include art and photography exhibitions, as well as slide shows of old movies. You can visit the venue every evening between 17:00-23:00.
Presided over by award-winning writer and director Seyyed Reza Mirkarimi, the 37th Fajr International Film Festival is underway in Tehran until April 26. For further information, please visit our website at www.fajriff.com.
